1. I have a red mark on the bony part of my bottom, what should I do?
2. Does the Pressure Clinic still have mattress covers for sale?
3. The cushion on my wheelchair is worn out. How do I replace it?
4. How often should I check my skin? What should I look for?
Skin should be checked at least twice a day especially before getting up and when you go back to bed. A mirror should be used to look at bony prominences and other areas. If you are unable to hold the mirror yourself you will need to direct someone else to check your skin. You or the person checking your skin should be looking for pink/red areas, purple/blue/bruised areas, swelling, blisters, insects bites or spots, shiny areas, dry or cracked areas. It is good practice to feel your skin as well as look at it and you, or the person doing this for you, should be feeling for hard lumps and warm areas.
