I am a T8 para incomplete post 5 years injury and was afflicted with severe leg spasms. This affected my quality of life drastically so prior to leaving hospital I was fortunate enough to speak to an outpatient who like myself had initial misgivings about yet another operation. She told me her only regret was not having the operation before she left hospital. Since her operation her and her families quality of life has improved dramatically. This was enough to convince me to have the operation. I was fortunate to have baclofen pump fitted befoer I was discharged from the unit in Dec 2000. I can concur with her regarding the improvement in quality of life.
I return to the unit every five months for refuelling and am informed that it's battery will need replacing every seven years. The device is inconspicuous though I am informed that the new models are even smaller. The dosage can be adjusted by computer at the unit. I would be happy to discuss ,via this website, life with a baclofen pump fitted.

Hi Simon,
Have you get rachel or Damian to see if they can put you in touch with someone? In case you have forgotten me this is Steve Korbey, ex CL, now retired to Canada on a NHS pension, after a heart attack and bypass. How are you?
