Friday February 9th 2007
Education Centre, SDH; £40
RISCI was founded by a small multidisciplinary group of professionals working with spinal cord injured patients with respiratory problems in 2000.
The group has held annual meetings and has grown to become an established national forum within spinal cord injury.
RISCI provides a unique opportunity for these professionals to present and share current projects, forge links with like minded individuals, exchange ideas and keep up to date with new developments in the field.
The group is representative of the 12 spinal injury centres in the UK and Eire.
The group is striving to influence the standard of care provided for spinal cord injured patients while awaiting admission to the spinal unit this would include district hospital intensive care units, high dependency units, rehabilitation units, neurosurgical units, orthopaedic wards.
RISCI aims to develop a national standard for the discharge of ventilator dependent patients into the community.
This meeting is open to all health profesionals with an interest in the acute and long term respiratory problems of spinal cord injury. It is especially suitable for nursing, medical, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and medical physics / engineering staff. This meeting’s content would be of particular interest to all those involved in the discharge process of spinal cord injured patients with complex care packages.
